Coronavirus Shreveport-Bossier: Confirmed cases rise past 1,100, deaths reach 60

More than 1,100 Bossier and Caddo Parish citizens tested positive for coronavirus, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Caddo Parish cases rose from 1,018 COVID-19 cases on Sunday to 1,033 on Monday.  Parish deaths increased to 60 as 18 new deaths were reported by the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office on Monday.

The average age of decedents is 68.5 with the youngest age 22, the oldest 96. Black deaths number 47,  while white deaths are at 13. Women make up 26 of the decedents, men 34.

All of the deaths were of people with known or suspected pre-existing serious health conditions.

Additionally, there are 19 deaths in Caddo Parish with COVID-19 test results pending.

With more than 16,000 COVID-19 tests done in Caddo Parish, the number of positive tests will likely increase.

"The more you test the more you know about what is going on in the state as a whole and in regions,'' Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said Monday.

Bossier Parish cases rose from 186 on Sunday to 188 on Monday. Bossier Parish has nine deaths related to COVID-19.

Caddo and Bossier parishes have combined for 69 deaths related to the virus.

DeSoto Parish has 125 positive cases with seven deaths related to the coronavirus. DeSoto Parish had one new positive case on Monday.

Webster Parish has 65 positive cases with two deaths. Those 65 cases are three more than Webster's total on Sunday.

Claiborne Parish remains at 41 positive cases with three deaths related to the virus.

Natchitoches Parish stayed at 41 positive cases with no deaths related to COVID-19.

Bienville Parish has 37 cases. That figure is an increase of four from Sunday. Bienville also has its second death after having just one death from COVID-19 as of Sunday.

Red River Parish jumped from 11 cases on Sunday at 12 on Monday. The parish remains at two COVID-19-related deaths.

Sabine Parish remains at nine positive cases with on deaths related to the virus.
